Jumanji: Rhino Run

Technically, it’s Rhino-Dodge

Apps and games are typically what gets referred to in my designer circles as “pitch porn.” Stuff that would be awesome if a client approves of because it’s creative or weird, but we don’t actually expect for the client to approve of.

But sometimes, a client gives their consent, and boom: you now have to make, design, develop and QA a game even if you’ve never done so before. No problem. Rhino Run is based on a scene in the movie where Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson runs away from rhinos. Easy enough. So we pitched a game where one dodges the hazards of Jumanji while collecting green crystals, all while an infectious funky drum rhythm marches in the background.

All assets were designed by yours truly, except for the Rock which was thankfully illustrated by my CD, Steve Isaacs. Also, shoutout to the awesome freelance developer that I forgot the name of; he’s the unsung hero of this fun project.
